Propane Tank Installation
A propane tank can’t just be placed anywhere. Our trained, expert employees know how to determine the ideal spot for a tank. They’ll work with you to figure this out before safely installing it.
Propane Tank Sizes
Your specific propane needs will be the way you determine what size your tank should be.
For outdoor use, cylinders are generally ideal.
20 lb: holds 4.7 gallons (This would be ideal for a grill, for example.)
30 lb: holds 7.1 gallons
33 lb: holds 7.9 gallons (This is a forklift size.)
40 lb: holds about 9.4 gallons
100 lb: holds about 23.6 gallons
For heating your home, you’ll be looking at a tank. Residential tank sizes vary depending on the size of the home and the specific energy needs. Common sizes include the following:
120 gallon
250 gallon
500 gallon
1,000 gallon

Propane Tank Leasing
When we speak with you to arrange new service, we’ll confirm whether you have a tank or need to lease one.
From there, here’s how it works:
If you do not have a propane tank on your property, you can lease a propane tank that includes a high-pressure regulator and tank mounting blocks.
We’ll determine what size tank you need. This will depend on your propane needs. Those needs are figured out based on the types of propane appliances you have in your home, what your heating requirements are and any additional factors that may affect your propane usage.
Next, we’ll create a lease agreement. This document will include your United Quality Cooperative propane tank, the regulator and the outside equipment that’s associated with your propane system.
